Shaping A Sustainable Caribbean with Clean Energy Solutions: The Workforce Factor

“In the face of pressing climate challenges, the Caribbean stands poised to become a beacon of sustainable development through clean energy solutions. Central to this vision is the development of a skilled workforce dedicated to implementing, managing, and advancing these sustainable practices. By prioritizing workforce training and education in renewable energy technologies, we can create a resilient economy that not only addresses environmental concerns but also empowers local communities. Through initiatives in solar power, electric vehicle infrastructure, and energy efficiency, we are equipping the Caribbean’s future leaders and workers to drive the sustainable transition. This investment in people—our greatest asset—ensures a strong foundation for a cleaner, greener Caribbean”.

Caribbean Center of Excellence for Research, Innovation and Workforce Training

Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC) and Green Solutions International SKN Incorporated announced a transformative partnership to establish the Caribbean Centre of Excellence in Research, Innovation, and Workforce Training. This pioneering initiative unveiled on 9th April 2024, aimed to position St. Kitts and the wider Caribbean region at the forefront of sustainable innovation and skilled workforce development. The Centre, which focused on solar photovoltaic (PV) installation and electric vehicle (EV) maintenance and repairs, is housed within the College’s Technical Vocational Education and Management Studies (TVEMS) Division

Regional Impact

Partnership with NABCEP

GSI has also further enhanced our reach and capacity in the Caribbean region by partnering with NABCEP to create the NABCEP Caribbean Program. The establishment of NABCEP Caribbean will further increase demand for internationally certified solar energy qualifications and training. Increased access to NABCEP’s PV training programmes and certification enhances PV human resource capacities and build consumer confidence, leading to greater investment in the industry regionally. Under this program, many vocational and colleges across the region can now become training providers to build capacity in their own local region.

Global Impact
